It was a tough weekend at the OVA office for our U18 girls team. Battling injuries and a short bench, the U18 Tornadoes put up a valiant effort but ended up with an overall record of 2-6 to finish 5th in Division 2 Tier 2 (37th out of 76 teams in their age group).
Starting the competition with a seeding of 14 out of 32 teams in Division 2, the Tornadoes found themselves the lowest seed in their 4 team pool with the 3rd, 6th and 11th seeds. The seeding results proved accurate as they went 0-3 on day 1. Re-pooling for day 2 found them in a pool with the 15th, 22nd and 23rd seeds. Following losses to the Clarington Grizzlies (eventual silver medalists in Division 2 Tier 2) and Durham Attack Fury, the Tornadoes ended the day on a positive note with a thrilling straight set 27-25, 25-21 over the Aurora Storm Cyclones to finish 3rd in their pool.
With a short overnight turnaround, the Tornadoes continued their run with a 25-11, 24-26, 15-7 early morning victory over London VC Intensity. Their rally ended with a 16-25, 15-25 loss to the eventual Division 2 Tier 2 gold medal winning Etobicoke E381 squad.
The whole BYVC family wishes our 4 graduating players (Erin, Tenisha, Dayna and Mindy) success and good luck on the next step of their volleyball journey and thank them for their contributions to our program.
