BYVC 16U Synergy won a gold medal at the McGregor Cup Championship level on the weekend at the Stratford Agriplex.  In doing so, they earned promotion to the Select Level of OVA competition.

The team had a tough morning when they lost both matches in 3 to London FC Willow (21-25, 25-19, 9-15) and Grimsby Vipers Invasion (25-13, 23-25, 11-15).  This placed them into a do-or-die match with Waterloo Tigers Instinct.  Winner got into the playoffs; loser plays for 7th/9th place and gets relegated to Trillium level.  Synergy won that contest 25-15, 25-20 which set up a quarter final with the tournament’s #1 seed Mississauga Pakmen Black. 

They dropped their first game 18-25 before storming back to win the next two 25-17, 15-10.  In the semi they met Grimsby Vipers again.  This time around they were victorious 25-12, 25-22.

In the final, they also met FC Willow again.  Synergy were very business-like in securing a two-set win with scores of 25-16, 25-21 and the gold medal.
